Coming from a Welsh, working class background myself this was a project close to my heart. As well as senior producing across this ambitious living history series which brought working women’s history to life, I also produced and directed the final episode. The show saw us take 20 modern Welsh women back to a working sewing factory of the 60s, 70s and 80s to experience how women’s lives and equal rights were transformed by the people who worked in them. Using archive, interviews and specially shot behind the scenes footage, my film revealed the story of the original ‘factory girls’ whose experiences informed the series every step of the way.
